A Small BSG Season 4 Spoiler

I just saw a small Battlestar Galactica season 4 spoiler at SyFy Portal.  I have to say that I'm a little annoyed at reading this piece of information.

Basically, the spoiler says that BSG is adding a new female character to the cast.  Her name is Kendra Taggert (same initial as Starbuck, coincidence? ) and she's a Major who was stationed on Pegasus.  Supposedly Major Taggert went a little loopy after the initial cylon attack (a la Starbuck?!)

I'm not thrilled at all that BSG would introduce a new character at this late stage.  Ron Moore had already said that the show is moving into its third act in a 3-act structured play.  I would much rather TPTB focus on the stories involving the main characters we all come to love and care about through out the years.

Also I'm a little annoyed at Ron Moore's propensity at recycling his ideas.  Case in point:  the much overly used flashbacks, the "head figures" that nobody else can see for multiple characters, the tendency to use intercut scenes, and now another loopy young female character...

I wonder if this new character is being setup to be the last cylon?  Why else introduce a new character when the story is moving towards its finale? *sigh*

Oh well, maybe they'll kill her off in episode 3. A girl can dream!

I like that idea very much!

Btw, if we aer going to DragonCon, shouldn't we be registering now?

Eeeek! Thanks for reminding me. Yeah, I would like to register! I didn't realize they have "early bird" special!

Not "early" bird special, I am afraid! It's already somehwat late in the game. We just don't want to be penalized for being the "really late" birds.

Go to the office site an dyou'll see what I mean. Do it before you go to France.

{{giggles}} "really late" birds That's me!

Okay, just want to sync with you. I went to the DragonCon official website. I assume to register for the event is to get the Membership for DragonCon? So if I register this week, it would be $60 for what we want to attend?

That's what I understand. And I think we have to download that form, fill it out, and fax it back to them.

Do you mind doing that for me when you fill out your form? ;)

(I need some new icons. *grumbles*)

That's because I keep snatching your lovely creations!

Do you mind doing that for me when you fill out your form? ;)

I don't mind doing that at all, I've downloaded the form already. However I think it's quicker and easier if I just pay our tickets through PayPal. But before I do that, I want to confirm with you if you are interested in doing anything else at DragonCon, for example that dinner banquet thingy ($38 I think, and I'm not sure what's that all about)...

I don't know what that dinner is about either. Do we need to decide now, or just register now and decide on the activities later?

If we have to decide now, then just pick whatever strikes your fancy. That dinner sounds fine to me. Also, I assume you'd want some autogragh/photo thingie with Jamie and/or Katee?

Since this will likely be our first-and-only chance to attend any "con" I say we should just make the memories last!

X--you really are coming to DragonCon??????

Let me know if you go to that dinner-thingy. I don't know what that is about, either. Shawn doesn't want to go, and I know that Laurie got DragonCon tickets but not to the dinner. I need to send in my form this week so we can get the $60 rate!

Ooh, I'm excited about the prospect of meeting you!!!!

May. 8th, 2007 05:54 pm (UTC)

I just went online and booked the tickets for me and ClairdeLune for Dragon*Con. So yap, we are going!

I'm very excited at the prospect of meeting you and Laurie in person! I hope Jordayna gets to go too!

As for the dinner on Saturday, I'm leaning towards going since we have to find a place to eat anyway. But I couldn't pay for the dinner while I used PayPal to register for the Con, so I'll have to call them later. We may not have any control over whether we get to go--the seatings maybe all sold out by now.

I tried to book the Con Hotel, but the website says it's all sold out for those days. Have you decided where you are going to stay?

Okay, I've used PayPal to register both of us for the Dragon*Con.

I agree that this most likely be our first-and-only chance to attend a "con" so I'm inclined to attend that dinner on Saturday night. We got to eat somewhere anyway, and it might as well be Dragon*Con's dinner banquet--for that price, the food might be less desirable, but it's the experience right? The only thing is, I couldn't pay for the dinner through PayPal, so I would have to call the Dragon*Con office later. The seatings are limited, so we may not be able to attend after all.

I also checked the Conference hotel--Hyatt Regency Atlanta. FRAK!FRAK!FRAK! I acted too late--the hotel is all sold out during those days. The hotel website says Diamond Members are guaranteed availability. Geoff and I are members of Hilton chains. :( How about you? Would you by any chance be a Diamond Member at Hyatt chain?

Nope. Sorry. :(

No worries. We can camp on the streets. Or camp in the Four Seasons. Your call.

Hey, I actually did something this morning instead of just sitting on my lazy bum (and fielding calls from work).

I booked us for 5 nights (from Thursday to the following Tuesday) at the Ritz. Four Seasons is a bit too far, but this Ritz is only a few block from the Hyatt. I will e-mail the details separately so you can Google map.

No worries if you don't like it, want to change the dates, or want to stay elsewhere. I can cancel w/o problem. I just want to make sure we have somewhere to sleep, and Ritz is usually a good bet all things considered.

Forgot to tell you that I chose "xwacky" for my badge name, and "ClairdeLune" for yours. I hope it's okay with you.

Thanks for doing this. It's fine. Though I would have preferred "Liebestraume" which is what I go by on Sci-Fi forums. Is it too late to change? No worries if it is. Just curious.
